Sentences that begin with kua (have/has) are negated with kāore ano... kia which means that someone has not done something yet. The verb follows kia:
Kāhore anō māua kia kai.
We have not eaten yet.
Kāore anō a Mere kia hiakai.
Mere is not hungry yet.
It implies the possibility that they might do this at some point in the future, and so would not be used for something that a person would never consider doing (eg "I have not played for the All Blacks yet", or "I have not eaten dog yet").
Kāore anō a Ataahua kia haere ki te kura.
Ataahua hasn't gone to school yet.Kāore anō ngā wāhine kia kōrero.
The women have not yet spoken.Kāore anō au ki kia kai i te kānga wai.
I haven't tried rotten corn yet.Nāore anō ia kia hoki mai.
He has not returned yet.Kāore anō te tama kia whana i te pōro.
The boy has not yet kicked the ball.Kāore anō rāua kia hoki mai i te toa.
