Past - specifying a particular time - i te

The tense marker i te indicates that something was happening in the past.

It can also be used to indicate a particular time.

I te pō...
In the evening...

I te ata...
In the morning...

I te rāmere i kai ai au me Honi.
On Friday I ate with Honi.

I te whitu karaka i te ahiahi, ka mate ia.
At seven o'clock in the evening, he died.

I te Wenerei, ka tae mai taku whanaunga.
On Wednesday my relation arrived.
