Past - specifying a particular time - i te

The tense marker i te indicates that something was happening in the past.

It can also be used to indicate a particular time.

In the evening...

I te ata...
In the morning...

I te tau 1996, ka tuhi ahau i tētahi pukapuka.
In 1996, I wrote a book.

I te rāmere i kai ai au me Manu.
On Friday I ate with Manu.
