A question with āhea should be answered with a sentence starting with ā:

Āhea koutou hoki atu ai ki tō koutou kāinga?
When are you returning to your home?

Ā te ahiahi.
In the afternoon.

Āhea koe ka haere?
When are you going?

Āhea?
When? (in the future)

Āhea a Hēmi ka kōrero?
When is Hēmi speaking?

Āhea koe ka kai?
When will you eat?

Āwhea kōrua rere ai ki Ōtautahi?
