mā runga

Means of travel uses mā runga. This is used to say how someone got from A to B or how they will get there.

I haere au mā runga motokā.
I traveled by car.

I haere mai au mā runga paihikara.
I came by bike.

I haere mai au mā runga pahi.
I came by bus.

If someone walks (that is, travels by foot) mā raro is used.

I tae mai ia mā raro.
He arrived on foot.

Ka haere au mā raro.
I'm walking.

Ka haere ia mā raro.
She walked.

I haere au runga motokā.
I traveled by car.

Ka haere au ki te mahi runga pahikara.
I will go to work by bicycle.

Kei te haere a Mere runga i te pahikara o Makere.
Mere is going on Mikaere's bike.

I tae mai ia runga hoiho.
He arrived on horse back.

Haere ai ia runga pahikara ki te mahi ia ata ia ata.
He always goes to work by bike every morning.

runga pahikara ahau haere ai.
I travelled by bike.

Ka haere mātou ki te tāone runga tereina te rua haora.
We went to town by train for two hours.

Ka haere au runga motokā.
I will travel by car.

How are you travelling?

I tae mai ia raro.
He arrived on foot.

She went by car.

Me runga tereina ki Te Awamutu.
They are going by train to Te Awamutu.
